As winter approaches, we reach for denser woods that hold warmth — teak and mango, not bamboo. The season tells us what to make.

This season we found a supplier in Maharashtra growing FSC-certified bamboo with unusually tight grain. The desk organizer was designed around it.

What Happens in Between
Every piece you see in New Arrivals passed through these stages — not a factory, not a production line. A workshop, a craftsman, and time.

Every piece begins with pencil on paper — Damodar sketches the grain direction before a single cut is made.
Material selection
Material selection
Choosing the right plank for a new piece takes almost as long as building it. Density, figure, and moisture all factor in.
First cuts
First cuts
The table saw sets the dimensions. From here on, hand tools take over.

Joinery in progress
Dovetail joints cut entirely by hand — no jigs, no shortcuts. The tightest joint is invisible when closed.
Surface finishing
Surface finishing
Three coats of tung oil, hand-sanded between each. The final pass uses 600-grit paper to leave a surface smoother than glass.
Final inspection
Final inspection
Each piece is inspected under raking light to catch any defect the naked eye might miss on a flat surface.
